Run of The Charles Canoe Race a Fun Day For All!

Congratulations to the “LakefrontLiving.com Snoopers” for taking first place in the 30th Annual Run of The Charles Canoe and Kayak race on Sunday, April 29, 2012. The team, consisting of 10 different area paddlers, completed the 24-mile relay race in just under 4 hours.

New England’s largest canoe and kayak race, held each April, includes 6, 9, and 19 mile races, a 24-mile, five-leg canoe relay race, and a 26-mile professional marathon running on the Charles River between Dedham and Boston. The Annual Run of the Charles showcases the ongoing improvements in the Charles River, while drawing 1,500 paddlers and hundreds of spectators to enjoy a day on the river. The event featured a variety of races for all skill levels, from expert to novice. The afternoon Finish Line Festival featured food, live music, awards, raffles and demonstrations.

This is the 29th time that the “Snoopers” have taken part in this race. Team Captain Peter Malewicz recognizes their place in its history “Scott (Freerksen) and I started running this race while in still in high school. Although the team has changed some over the years, we still have a core group that really enjoy this canoe race. I think the fact that it is a team approach is what makes it so fun. Lakefront Living Realty has been a great sponsor for us in the Corporate class. We always end the day looking forward to next year!”
