Why Hot Tubs and Lake Homes go Hand-in-hand

Hot tubs are the perfect addition to your lakefront home! They add a relaxing feature to your home to unwind after a long day. Who wouldn’t want to come home to a nice view and a soak in the tub?

Today’s blog post is all about why you need a hot tub for your lake home!

  1. Stress Relief:

One of the most obvious benefits of a hot tub is the potential to help ease the tensions of the day. Especially in the winter, there’s not much you can do outside, so why not add a hot tub to enjoy the relaxing views of the lake and nature surrounding your home. The soothing effect of the warm water and massaging action may help relieve physical, emotional, and mental stress. If you like, you can boost this stress-relieving effect even further with soft music, low lighting, or aromatherapy.

  1. Improved Sleep:

Research has shown that hot tubs help improve sleep. The simple relaxation gained from a soak in the hot tub may be enough to help you drift off into a more peaceful sleep.

An older study evaluated passive body heating as a treatment for insomnia in older adults. The study was small and subjective but found that hot baths promoted significantly deeper and more restful sleep.A 2012 study looked at the effects of hydrotherapy on physical function and sleep quality for people with fibromyalgia. It was a small study involving females between the ages of 30 and 65. The researchers concluded that hydrotherapy helped improve sleep quality along with other symptoms of fibromyalgia. Lakes in general also help improve sleep.  Living by a lake would mean that you’re far away from the noisy bustle and hustle of the city. Furthermore, water is known to have a calming effect on your body and mind. There is a reason why all the music that you tune into to help you sleep has white noise and sounds of water waves.

  1. Better Cardiovascular Health:

Relaxing in a hot tub can raise your heart rate and lower your blood pressure.

According to a 2016 study, hot water immersion may have “robust” effects on vascular function and blood pressure. The authors of the study suggested that passive heat therapy may help reduce cardiovascular risk and mortality, especially among those with limited ability to exercise. Mayo Clinic researcher Thomas Allison, M.P.H., PhD did a study that shows that sitting in a spa bath can lower your blood pressure. This is great for those who are at risk for heart disease or suffer from hypertension. Of course, if you suffer from those problems you should consult your doctor but the research of Dr. Allison has shown that hot water like in spa baths increases your heart rate while lowering your blood pressure which helps reinforce our earlier fact that it can help your cardiovascular health. This would be a great addition to a lake home which already reduces blood pressure and improves cardiovascular health by promoting an active lifestyle!

  1. It Can Improve Anxiety:

Anxiety is a tough problem to tackle for a lot of people but spa baths can help. Thanks to the relaxation, stress relief, and the heat, spa baths can help you feel less anxiety. Of course, it’ll take more than a spa bath to get rid of all of it but every little bit helps! Especially being right next to the lake, you’ll feel a reduction of anxiety even more. Spending time outside near the lake and taking in the scenery has a great impact for reducing stress hormones and improving symptoms of anxiety.

Spending time outside by your lakefront hot tub has a lot more benefits then regular residential homes do! It’s time to start feeling like a million dollars from the reduction of stress, a better night sleep, lower blood pressure, and less anxiety…. And it’s simple! All you need is a lake home and a hot tub.
