Two Highly Recommended Lake Tours

mtwashington1If owning your own boat is still on your wish list, there are other ways to get out on the water and experience the lakefront lifestyle. Here are two highly recommended lake tours:

1. Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Take a 2.5 Hour Scenic Cruise for a $75 Family Rate aboard the M/S Mount Washington! (Kids under 5 are free). Mount Washington Cruises offers Scenic Daytime and Sunset  Dinner Dance Cruises on Lake Winnipesaukee,  NH from late May through October.  The M/S Mount Washington visits 5 ports on Lake Winnipesaukee and takes on passengers in Wolfeboro, Meredith, Center Harbor and Alton Bay on alternating days of the week with daily cruises from Weirs Beach.

Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest and one of the most beautiful lakes in New Hampshire. It is located at the foothills of the White Mountains in New Hampshire’s beautiful Lakes Region. Lake Winnipesaukee is spring fed and surrounded by mountain ranges, contains more than 240 habitable islands, covers 44,000 acres of crystal clear water and is home to some of the most beautiful lakefront homes in the country. 2. Lake George, NY. This is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world, and is known as “The Queen of American Lakes.” The 32 mile long lake, which is fed by mammoth underground springs, includes 109 miles of shoreline, about 300 islands, and covers an approximate area of 44 square miles.

The lake, 320 feet above sea level, varies in depth from 1 foot to 195 feet and in width from one to three miles. People are amazed to learn that the mouth of the lake is located at Lake George Village and that the outlet is to the north at Ticonderoga.

Lake George is in fact, 210 feet higher by sea level than Lake Champlain located farther north in the Adirondacks. This is a natural wonder, since the water from Lake George empties through Ticonderoga Creek into Lake Champlain at a total fall which surpasses that of Niagara Falls.
